Siri AI vs. Old Siri on Apple Watch: It Wasn’t Even Close

1 Mins read

For years, using Siri on an Apple Watch often felt like a frustrating exercise in patience. Instead of providing direct answers, the assistant frequently defaulted to the dreaded phrase, here is what I found on the web, forcing users to squint at slow loading webpages on a screen far too small for actual browsing. However, with the rollout of the WatchOS 27 public beta, Apple has introduced a revamped Siri AI that aims to fix these long standing flaws by delivering concise, immediate information right on the wrist.

In a series of real world tests comparing the new AI to the legacy system, the difference was night and day. When asked for specific logistics, such as a ferry schedule from Vallejo to San Francisco, the old Siri once again pointed toward a web search. In contrast, Siri AI provided the exact departure time instantly. This trend continued into the kitchen, where a request for buttermilk ingredients resulted in another dead end for the old version while the AI gave a clear recipe substitution involving milk and acid.

The intelligence gap became even more apparent when handling complex queries with multiple parts. While asking about an upcoming World Cup match and its location, the original Siri managed to provide the date and time but completely ignored the stadium details. The new AI handled both pieces of information effortlessly and even offered to set a reminder for the event. It even proved capable of synthesizing sports commentary, explaining why a specific player was substituted in a recent match rather than simply offering a link to an article.

While this software remains in its beta phase and is subject to change before its official autumn release, early impressions suggest a fundamental shift in utility. For many users, this marks the first time that interacting with their watch feels truly efficient rather than just a shortcut to their phone. If these performance gains hold steady through final production, Apple may have finally turned its wearable assistant into a tool people actually want to use.
