Samsung appears to be preparing a return to the premium headphone market after a hiatus that has lasted nearly a decade. Evidence discovered within strings of code in the Galaxy Wearable app suggests that the company is developing a pair of over ear wireless headphones, internally referred to as the Galaxy H1. If these leaks hold true, it would mark Samsung’s first major venture into this category since the release of the Level On back in 2015, long before the electronics giant expanded its audio portfolio through the acquisition of Harman.
The move signals a strategic shift toward competing directly with industry heavyweights like Apple and Sony. While Samsung has seen significant success with its compact Galaxy Buds lineup, it currently lacks a high end flagship designed to take on products like the AirPods Max or the Sony WH series. Though current connection icons in the software provide only a generic glimpse of an over ear design, they confirm that Samsung intends to fill this gap in its ecosystem soon.
Industry analysts suggest that when these headphones eventually arrive, likely around 2027, they will be packed with exclusive technology tailored for existing Galaxy users. This includes expected support for the Samsung Seamless Codec Ultra High Quality system found in recent phones and tablets, alongside deep integration with AI assistants such as Gemini and Bixby. By leveraging these proprietary tools, Samsung hopes to create a seamless experience that mirrors the tight synergy Apple maintains between its devices and accessories.
