Apple Prepares to Overhaul the Smart Home with New Hub and Hardware

1 Mins read

Apple is gearing up to transform how users interact with their living spaces during its upcoming Welcome Home event in New York. According to recent leaks from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the centerpiece of the announcement will be a brand new smart home hub called HomeView. This device arrives in two distinct forms, offering a sleek tabletop version with a metal speaker base and a more permanent wall mounted option. Powering the experience is the A18 chip paired with eight gigabytes of RAM, ensuring that the integrated Siri AI can handle complex voice commands across the household.

While HomeView acts as the brain of the operation, it won’t arrive alone. Apple is reportedly introducing a wider ecosystem known as the Apple Home Collection, featuring hardware developed alongside partners like LG and Schneider Electric. This suite of accessories includes everything from smart doorbells and deadbolts to thermostats and security cameras, effectively positioning Apple as a direct competitor in the comprehensive home automation market. While these peripherals may trickle out through late 2026, HomeView itself is expected to hit shelves around mid November.

The updates extend beyond the hub to familiar favorites like the Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini. The latest iteration of the Apple TV 4K will see a significant performance boost via an A19 chip and might even feature built in microphones for improved AI interaction. There are also rumors of a redesigned Siri Remote that includes its own speaker to help frustrated users locate it when it disappears into couch cushions. Meanwhile, the second generation HomePod mini receives a major internal upgrade with an S10 chip and a refreshed palette of colors including midnight, green, pink, blue, and white.

Timing seems critical for this rollout as Apple prepares for the holiday shopping season. Both the upgraded HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K are slated for unveiling this Tuesday followed by a retail launch on October 30. For those eyeing the high end home integration provided by HomeView, however, patience will be required as they wait for that specific device to land in stores throughout November_
