3 Mins read

SMC ASIA Car Distributors Corp., official BMW importer and distributor, has brought in the updated 2 Series lineup — with two new variants bearing “the same athletic design, sporting prowess, and even more innovative features.”

The newest generation of the BMW 2 Series is seen as a modern interpretation of the classic 2002 model which marked the brand’s first foray into high-performance iterations of its modern coupés. To keep true to this virtue, the 2 is said to possess a “fresh, youthful, and extroverted aura matched by thoroughly engineered and perfectly balanced driving attributes.”

BMW 218i COUPÉ M SPORTUnder the hood of the 218i Coupé M Sport rumbles the award-winning B48 engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo 2.0L inline four-cylinder petrol engine is mated with an eight-speed Steptronic Automatic Transmission with gearshift paddles. Its maximum output is 250Nm and 156hp, and can get the vehicle from a standstill to 100kph in 8.7 seconds.

The new variant adopts a front engine, rear-wheel-drive layout to reflect the character of a genuine sports car, while the exterior dimensions allow “excellent driving dynamics.” The exterior gets the brand’s new design language and “represents an expression of pure driving pleasure.”

BMW’s signature kidney grille assumes a horizontal design and features vertically arranged active air flaps in place of the classic bars. The active air flaps open electronically when the engine has an increased need for cooling air. These are complemented by standard-fitted full-LED headlights, which are positioned in the outer reaches of the front end and have a single unit, circular design as inspired by the previous iterations of this model.

The 218i Coupé M Sport includes exterior details that highlight its sporty profile: M Aerodynamic Package, M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Sport Suspension, M Rear Spoiler, and 18-inch M Light alloy wheel double-spoke style 848 M in bi-color with mixed tires.

A driver-focused cockpit design and a modern control panel on the center console heightens the sporty atmosphere of the cabin, which features sport seats and a BMW M leather steering wheel.

A Comfort Access system makes entry to the vehicle even more convenient, and a newly designed Ambient Lighting function sets the mood for a relaxed drive or a more dynamic one.

High-quality materials and precise workmanship are also featured within, employing a combination of Alcantara–Sensatec upholstery and Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim. The vehicle also gets BMW Live Cockpit Plus, which includes the BMW Curved Display that seamlessly integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch widescreen display and runs on the latest BMW iDrive software, Operating System 8.0. These allow the driver and passengers to experience the best-in-class intuitive infotainment system. It comes with Smartphone Integration — Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as connectivity options to let passengers seamlessly integrate and enjoy their entertainment preferences.

The BMW 218i Coupé M Sport is priced at P3.59 million and comes with the five-year comprehensive BMW Warranty.

BMW M240i xDRIVE COUPÉThe BMW M240i xDrive Coupé boasts of the hallmark design features of the 2, but is said to “take on a number of performance enhancements needed to become an exciting pocket rocket.” The M240i xDrive Coupé is positioned as a track-ready car, powered by a BMW TwinPower Turbo 3.0L inline six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 374hp and 500Nm of torque. It is mated to a ZF eight-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic transmission which sends power to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. This allows the M240i xDrive Coupé to accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in just 4.3 seconds.

A rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system is combined with Adaptive M Suspension and BMW M Sport Differential to enable the M240i xDrive Coupé “to exhibit razor-sharp handling with a very high level of grip, be it on city roads or on the racetrack.”

The BMW M240i xDrive Coupé boasts the M Aerodynamic Package and M Rear Spoiler, and additionally gets a BMW M 50 Years Badge, M Sport Brake in Dark Blue Metallic, and 19-inch M light alloy wheel double-spoke Style 792 M bi-color with mixed, run-flat tires.

Within its cabin, the vehicle gets Leather Vernasca Décor Stitching upholstery in three colors that customers may choose from: Tacora Red, black, and Oyster. The BMW M240i xDrive Coupé is priced at P4.89 million and also comes with an industry-leading, comprehensive five-year BMW Warranty.
