THE TOURISM department is positioning the Clark Freeport Zone, located north of the capital Manila, as a premier destination for the MICE (Meetings, lncentives, Conferences, Exhibits) segment.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Department of Tourism (DoT) said it is collaborating with the Tourism Promotions Board and the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development for further promoting the Clark complex.

“Through the help of the private sector, the goal is to transform the Clark Freeport Zone into a preferred business and tourism destination in the Asia Pacific region and enable investors to find long-term economic returns,” DoT-Central Luzon Regional Director Carolina D. Uy, said.

Ms. Uy noted that Clark already has 80 convention/meeting halls, 3,648 hotel rooms, 126 dining facilities, and 45 tourism attractions such as the Clark Safari, and museum and theater.

A new passenger terminal was also recently opened at the Clark International Airport.

As a freeport zone, Clark hosts some 1,153 locators.

At the same time, the New Clark City in neighboring Tarlac province will also be pushed for sports tourism given its facilities that were used during the Philippine’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games 2019.

The New Clark City is also being developed as a new government administrative center within a mixed-use complex.
