Palace catering area scored

1 Mins read

A CONGRESSMAN has criticized the Marcos government for spending taxpayer’s money in building a catering area at the presidential palace.

“While the Marcos family is busy building a new catering area for their extravagant parties using the people’s taxes, the Philippine peso recently hit an all-time low and commuters bear the brunt of public transport fare increases,” Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene D. Brosas said in a statement on Sunday.

On Thursday, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos posted a photo of the groundbreaking ceremony in Malacañang on Facebook.

Ms. Brosas noted that despite the lack of budget to build classrooms, “they’re able to quickly find funds to construct a catering area.”

Ms. Brosas said the public should resist attempts to glorify the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos as the commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law draws near.

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles did not immediately reply to a Viber message seeking comment. — Matthew Carl L. Montecillo
