SMUGGLED carrots worth P4 million were seized at the Manila International Container Port, the Bureau of Customs reported on Thursday.

The bureau said the shipment, consigned to Silverpop Dry Good Trading, was seized after an on-site examination conducted by port authorities on June 14.

The port district collector, Romeo Allan R. Rosales, issued an alert order against the 2×40 containers, which were declared to contain steamed buns, upon recommendation by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service.

A warrant of seizure was issued against the shipment for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. — Tobias Jared Tomas
